Who am I as a Designer?

Class blog assignment #1

My bio on my website tells about me – the stuff, credentials, & qualifications:

  • I own/ operate an interior design firm (10 years this year!)
  • I work in residential, commercial, and historic design
  • I am a Licensed and Certified Interior Designer
  • I am a member of a number of professional and community organizations, and serve actively in those organizations
  • I value education and continued learning

But who am I as a designer? At the core what do I believe about my version of interior design?

  • I believe what I offer is a luxury service, however that service can be attainable at any budget.
  • I believe that kindness and sincerity counts for a who lot in business “you catch more flies with honey than vinegar”
  • I believe that integrity is an essential to establish relationships of trust, my clients have to trust me and my vision for their project
  • I believe that I am paid to give my honest professional opinion, not to pander, but honesty must be offered it in a tactful manner.
  • I believe that professionalism is important, I am stern when needed, flexible when needed, but I always strive for professionalism.
  • I believe we pull our designs from our experiences, we build on those experiences to create original thoughts.  I am always seeking for inspiration from everything around me.
